We Recommend These To Burglar Proof Any Kind Of Window

Windows have been a weakness on most buildings since modern house building began. A glass partition separating the outside world from the inside of your home has been a popular entry point for burglars for decades. The problem with modern housing is that windows are a key selling point regardless of their security qualities. Windows add decoration and act as cheap alternatives when heating or airing out your property.

Windows

Most modern day properties will either have timber, aluminium or uPVC style windows. There are pros and cons to all three types of window frame.

Timber

Wooden/timber windows are aesthetically pleasing and can add great style and quality to your home. However, they can be extremely expensive to buy and install and they are prone to damage and may warp over time. Timber windows require a lot of maintenance.

Aluminium

Double glazing is great for all window frame types. However, some window types may counteract the benefit of having double glazed windows. For instance, windows that are made of aluminium may not retain heat and can end up costing you more in home energy bills. Also, much like wooden/timber windows they can be quite expensive.

uPVC

If it is value for money you are looking for with your window selection then uPVC style windows are the perfect choice. Unlike timber and aluminium windows uPVC windows are relatively inexpensive; of course it depends on how many windows you are putting in and the style etc. They do not require constant maintenance and are easily cleaned with the right uPVC cream cleaner. uPVC windows will not warp and the material itself is extremely energy efficient, saving you a lot of money in the long run when it comes to energy bills.

Window Security

Regardless of what type of window you have you should be safe and secure in the knowledge that it will keep out burglars and prevent intruders. However, it is always good to add extra layers of security to your beautiful windows, whether they are expensive or not.

  • We recommend installing window handles with inbuilt locks. They can come in many finishes and styles and are perfect for home security. Remove keys from locked windows and keep them in a safe place.
  • Window restrictors that can be deadlocked not only keep burglars at bay but help in keeping your young ones from falling out of windows. Good for air flow also.
  • Ground floor windows will be the preferred entry point of choice for house burglars. Therefore a retrofitted window sensor alarm is a great security measure. If someone tries to break in it will instantly trigger a high decibel alarm.
