It fits most uPVC, composite, timber, aluminium and steel doors that use a euro cylinder, including patio doors. Measure your current cylinder from the centre screw to each end to choose 35/35 or 40/40 — or call us and we’ll check.
What happens if the battery dies?
The app warns you well before it runs low, and the mechanical backup key always opens the door. One CR2 battery lasts up to 3 years.
Do I need Wi-Fi?
No. You — and anyone you send a digital key to — unlock it by phone when you’re at the door. Add the Wi-Fi Bridge if you want to unlock from anywhere, get live entry alerts or use Alexa and Google.
Can I fit it myself?
Yes — there’s no drilling or wiring. Follow our 3-minute fitting video (or the instructions in the box) at your own pace, and if you get stuck, call us on 0151 521 8089.
What if I lose my phone?
You’re never locked out: the backup key always works, and so does your fob or PIN keypad if you have one. Log in to the Black X app on a new phone and delete the old phone’s access.
Can it be hacked?
Black X is audited to IASME Cyber Assurance Level 2, and any eKey can be deleted from the app instantly. Underneath, it’s a TS007 3-Star, SS312 Diamond cylinder, so it resists physical attack too.
What if it’s not for me?
Return it within 30 days of delivery in its original packaging for a refund.
