One of the major things a home owner can do to secure their home is to add a deterrence. Nothing scares off a burglar more than an up to date alarm system. Studies show that homes without an effective alarm system are two to three times more likely to be burgled than those with one.

Window alarms

Window alarms can be easily installed. They are usually fitted on the inside part of the window- meaning, the window side that is on the inside of your home. They are usually attached by an adhesive pad meaning it can be installed by anyone. Another bonus is that you can add a sign making it visible to the burglar that you have alarms on your windows. It works by simply letting out a loud siren noise whenever someone attempts to hit or gain access via your window.

Door alarms

Alarms for front doors are common. However, there are alarms out there for internal doors. For instance, say you have elderly relatives who live on their own a good option would be to install a door wedge alarm. This allows you to keep your doors open to a certain degree but as soon as the door is forced the larm is triggered.
