A window hinge is a connecting part which acts as a bearing or pivot point to ensure the window stays in place and operates as it should to allow the window to opened and closed. Window hinges are usually designed specifically for each type of window such as uPVC or timber windows. They can be side hung or top hung as well as other style such as sliding or folding.
A top hung window is one that is basically hinged from the top. The handle will be placed at the bottom. This style is perfect for wet climates as it blocks out rain.
A side hung is a window is probably the most common in every home. This style of window has its hinges attached to the top and bottom in a vertical line. The handle on a side hung window will be placed at the side. When pushed out its the same effect as a door opening.
