Fitting instructions:
-
First decide where you would like the door knocker to go. Using a tape measure and pencil, find the centre of the door and make a mark.
-
Measure the door knocker. Find the distance between the bolt holes (measuring from centre-to-centre of the bolt hole) on the back of the knocker.
-
Use the pencil to mark in-line with the centre mark – the measurements for drilling the bolt holes.
Remember measure twice, cut once. -
Before you start drilling it is advisable to wear safety goggles. Use a 6mm drill bit that is suitable for the door material that you are drilling into.
-
Find the bolt hole marks and drill as straight as possible keeping at 90° to the door.
-
Repeat for the second bolt hole.
-
Attach the easy cut nylon threads and offer the door knocker up to the holes and push through.
-
If the bolt protrudes a lot from the back of the door you’ll need to trim them. Mark the excess, check the size needed with the nut. Check the depth. Remember measure twice, cut once.
-
Saw the excess off with a junior hacksaw or cut off with a sharp knife.
-
Attach the nuts – Once you have done this screw the nuts onto the back of the bolts
