Door Knocker Fitting Guide

You Will Need:

  1. Door knocker & fixings.

  2. A battery or powered drill

  3. A 6mm drill bit that is suitable for the door material that you are drilling into

  4. A junior hacksaw / sharp knife

  5. A tape measure

  6. A pencil

  7. Safety goggles

Fitting instructions:

  1. First decide where you would like the door knocker to go. Using a tape measure and pencil, find the centre of the door and make a mark.

  2. Measure the door knocker. Find the distance between the bolt holes (measuring from centre-to-centre of the bolt hole) on the back of the knocker.

  3. Use the pencil to mark in-line with the centre mark – the measurements for drilling the bolt holes.
    Remember measure twice, cut once.

  4. Before you start drilling it is advisable to wear safety goggles. Use a 6mm drill bit that is suitable for the door material that you are drilling into.

  5. Find the bolt hole marks and drill as straight as possible keeping at 90° to the door.

  6. Repeat for the second bolt hole.

  7. Attach the easy cut nylon threads and offer the door knocker up to the holes and push through.

  8. If the bolt protrudes a lot from the back of the door you’ll need to trim them. Mark the excess, check the size needed with the nut. Check the depth. Remember measure twice, cut once.

  9. Saw the excess off with a junior hacksaw or cut off with a sharp knife.

  10. Attach the nuts – Once you have done this screw the nuts onto the back of the bolts
