Replacement uPVC Window Handles

How to Choose the Right Window Handle
Not sure which style you need? Here is a quick guide: Espag handles — The most common type on modern uPVC windows. They operate a multipoint lock via a square spindle. Shop Espag window handles Cockspur handles — Found on older uPVC and aluminium windows. A wedge-shaped spur hooks over a striker plate. Shop Cockspur window handles Tilt and Turn handles — For windows that tilt inward for ventilation and also swing fully open. Open the window and look at the mechanism the handle drives: a square spindle protruding from the handle base means an espag handle; a flat nose that clips over a wedge on the frame means a cockspur. Tilt and turn windows use their own longer-throw handles. Type first, then measurements.
An espag handle turns a square spindle that drives a locking rail inside the window — standard on modern uPVC. A cockspur handle simply hooks a projecting nib over a striker on the frame — common on older uPVC and aluminium windows. They're not interchangeable, so identify yours before buying.
Remove the handle (two screws under the caps) and measure the square spindle from the base of the handle to its tip. Common lengths run 10–55mm; many replacement handles ship with adjustable or snap-to-length spindles that cover several sizes.
