Frequently Asked Questions

Surface bolts and shoot bolts secure the passive leaf of French doors and add night-time locking to any timber door; hinge bolts stop outward-opening doors being levered off their hinges. Cheap, discreet reinforcement for the points locks don't cover.

Hinge bolts are fixed steel pegs on the hinge edge that engage the frame when the door closes — so even with hinge pins attacked, the door can't be pulled out. Fit them to any outward-opening external door; two per door.

A door stop — floor, wall or hinge-pin mounted — placed to catch the door before the handle reaches the wall. For wind-slamming external doors, a restrictor stay is the proper fix.
