Lock Your Windows Part-Open for Airflow and Security

The Home Secure™ Window Cable Restrictor Lock is a key-locking steel cable that lets you leave a window partly open for ventilation while stopping it being opened any further from outside. Designed for uPVC, aluminium and timber frames.

Key Features

  • Key-Locking Design: Limits the window opening to approximately 18cm, so you can let air in while the window stays secured.

  • Strong Steel Cable: 20cm coated steel cable resists cutting and corrosion for long-term use.

  • Universal Fit: Suitable for uPVC, timber and aluminium windows and doors.

  • Easy DIY Installation: Supplied with fixings and keys — fit in minutes with basic tools.

  • Release When Needed: Unlock with the key to open the window fully.

Fitting Restrictors for Child Safety?

This restrictor allows an opening of around 18cm, which is wider than the 89mm limit for child-safety restrictors under BS EN 13126-5. For child safety, choose our Locking Cable Restrictor, which is tested to the child-resistant standard BS EN 16281, or our Sliding Window Restrictor, which limits the opening to around 7cm.

🏠 Ideal For

  • Letting fresh air in while keeping windows secured

  • Ground-floor windows you want to leave slightly open

  • Extra security on windows and doors with a weak or worn handle lock

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — it fits most uPVC, aluminium, and wooden window frames. It can also be used on certain patio or balcony doors for added protection.

We don't recommend it for child safety. It allows an opening of around 18cm, which is wider than the 89mm limit for child-safety restrictors under BS EN 13126-5. For child safety, choose our Locking Cable Restrictor, which is tested to the child-resistant standard BS EN 16281.

Installation is simple — screw the base units into your window frame and sash, attach the cable, and lock with the provided key. Full instructions are included.

It's a good choice for letting air in while keeping windows secured. If you need restrictors to protect children or vulnerable people from falls, for example to meet safety requirements in a rented or multi-occupancy building, choose a restrictor tested to a child-resistant standard such as our Locking Cable Restrictor.
